Pet Friendly Services is continuing to save lives and prevent suffering. Using highly targeted, impactful programs, we’re addressing the root cause of pet overpopulation.
In addition to our spay/neuter programs, we continue to advocate for shelters, rescues, and the animals in their care. Our newly launched “Introduction to Animal Welfare” is a helpful, shareable guide that answers commonly asked questions, explains the various roles of animal welfare organizations, and explains key strategies to save as many lives as possible!
Read on to see how and where we’ve made a difference so far this year!

Where We Saved Lives This Quarter
Thanks to support from generous donors, Pet Friendly Services is thrilled to announce that the “Pit Mix Fix” is available in all Indiana counties! This highly targeted program allows limited-income owners of “pit mixes” or dogs over 50 pounds to get them fixed for just $10!
Why “Pit Mixes” and big dogs?
Large dogs are over-represented in shelters and are harder to find adopters for. They also have notoriously large litters! By stopping overpopulation at the source, we can prevent them from entering a shelter in the first place!
Where We Saved Lives This Quarter
The Pet Friendly Plate Grant allows shelters and rescues to fix their animals for FREE! This makes them healthy, happy, and adoption-ready.
The Community Cat Grant provides rescue groups and shelters with FREE surgery certificates each year, to be used for Trap-Neuter-Return programs for outdoor cats. These certificates include a rabies vaccination and mandatory eartip.
The following organizations received their annual Pet Friendly Plate Grant and Community Cat Grant spay/neuter certificates in the third quarter of 2023:

The #1 way to reduce the burden on shelters is by reducing the intake of cats!
Catching up with The FIX is IN!
“The Fix is IN!” just wrapped up the 2023 tour and the numbers are in! Through our partnership with Public Vet, these clinics fixed over TWELVE THOUSAND CATS!
This much-needed program reaches under-served areas in dire need and clinics can fix up to 130 cats per day. That’s 130 cats that will go home with their families to live happy lives rather than having unwanted litters litters arriving at your local shelter.
Pet Friendly Services provides financial assistance to families and colony caretakers who could not otherwise afford to fix their cats, helping to stop overpopulation at the source. Here’s the impact we’ve made so far this year and a brief video about the Fix is IN!
To see where The Fix is IN! will be next and to make an appointment, visit Public Vet’s website.
Pet Friendly Services is the only statewide non-profit that addresses pet overpopulation at the source! In spite of the vet shortage and increasing prices, our small team is getting them fixed!
Your support makes a meaningful difference to the lives of Indiana’s cats and dogs. By being a donor, becoming a sponsor, or simply sharing our information, YOU are helping us save lives!
