Impact Report: 2nd Quarter 2023

Pet Friendly Services is continuing to save lives and prevent suffering. Using highly targeted, impactful programs, we’re addressing the root cause of pet overpopulation.

Animal shelters across our state are at or above capacity. Through the Pit Mix Fix andThe FIX is IN!programs, we’re focusing on animals that are most likely to end up in shelters: large dogs and cats. Not only does fixing a pet prevent them from making more pets, it also improves behavior. Fixed pets are FAR more likely to stay with their families and out of shelters.

Through our Spay/Neuter Assistance Program for limited-income families, and special partnerships like “Summer Sensations” with Alley Cat Advocates, we’re making spay/neuter affordable and accessible for pet-owning families in need.

Read on to see how and where we’ve made a difference so far this year!

Where We Saved Lives This Quarter

The Pet Friendly Plate Grant allows shelters and rescues to fix their animals for FREE! This makes them healthy, happy, and adoption-ready.

The Community Cat Grant provides rescue groups and shelters with 25 FREE surgery certificates each year, to be used for Trap-Neuter-Return programs for outdoor cats. These certificates include a rabies vaccination and mandatory eartip.

The following organizations received their annual Pet Friendly Plate Grant and Community Cat Grant spay/neuter certificates in the second quarter of 2023:

The #1 way to reduce the burden on shelters is by reducing the intake of cats!

Catching up with The FIX is IN!

In 2020, Pet Friendly Services launched The FIX is IN! to expand access to care and spay/neuter. Through our partnership with Public Vet, this mobile clinic is reaching under-served areas in dire need. These clinics can fix up to 130 cats per day, which lessens the backlog on vet offices in the area, allowing vets to serve more dogs.

Pet Friendly Services provides financial assistance to families and colony caretakers who could not otherwise afford to fix their cats, helping to stop overpopulation at the source. Here’s the impact we’ve made so far this year and a brief video about the Fix is IN!

To see where The Fix is IN! will be next and to make an appointment, visit Public Vet’s website.

Pet Friendly Services is the only statewide non-profit that addresses pet overpopulation at the source and receives no government funding.
