April Newsletter: Spring “Pupdates” on Our Lifesaving Work!

You Saved Lives!

These puppies will be mange-free, fixed, and adoption-ready soon at It Takes A Village No-Kill Rescue

Twice in the past month, we asked our supporters for assistance with special cases of need. For both the mange puppies, and the Johnson County Animal Shelter tornado relief, we met our fundraising goal and were able to provide critical spay/neuter surgeries for animals in need – thanks to you!

We appreciate your commitment to Indiana’s animals. Thanks to you, more animals are fixed and more lives are saved!

Your support and donations make us able to say “Yes” when special circumstances arise. Thank you for helping us help them!

A note on the need for spay/neuter funding: a national veterinarian shortage is increasing wait-times and surgery prices for this essential service. Even our “low-cost” providers have raised their reimbursement rates, making your support more critical than ever. We appreciate every donated dollar and stretch it as far as we can!

Johnson County Animal Shelter will be more equipped to cope with displaced animals thanks to your support!

Indiana Animal Welfare Conference Recap

The 2023 Indiana Animal Welfare Conference was a huge success! Over 200 animal welfare advocates gathered for a full day of learning, collaborating, and networking.  Thank you to all who attended, as well as to our volunteers, board members, and sponsors who made the event possible. All resources and slides from the conference are now available on our website.

Pit Mix Fix Update

Diesel and Khaos are big dogs with even bigger hearts. Thanks to the Pit Mix Fix program, their families were able to have them fixed for just $10. Big dogs like these are over-represented in shelters, making it even more essential for them to receive a spay/neuter surgery. When dogs are happy, fixed, and healthy, they make ideal companions for their forever families. Khaos is even being trained to be a service dog for a child with autism!

The Pit Mix Fix is currently helping big dogs in Marion, Jackson, and Lawrence counties. Individuals or companies interested in sponsoring – or expanding the Pit Mix Fix program into new areas – should contact Rhi Johns at Rhi@PetFriendlyServices.org.

We need your help to fix more dogs! Any donations to the Pit Mix Fix will help a large dog in need!

2,628 Cats and Counting:

Catching up with The FIX is IN!

Did you know that because of Pet Friendly Services’ support, The FIX is IN! has already hosted 27 clinics in 2023 and fixed over 2,628 cats (you did that math right, that’s an average of almost 100 cats per clinic!)

Pet Friendly Services provides financial assistance at these clinics to cat owners in need, making low-cost spay/neuter accessible to those who need it most. With “kitten season” upon us, it’s more important than ever to get cats fixed!

Public Vet is currently scheduling clinics across Indiana! Pet owners should book appointments right away, as spots are limited. Surgeries are by appointment only. Sign up at www.pub.vet.

Looking for a new best friend, or know someone who is? Our Pet Friendly Adoption Guide provides answers to common questions about the adoption process, AND a list of shelters/rescues near you. Adoption is the best way to add a new family member and save a life! Visit www.AdoptINpets.org to learn more.

Don't Drive Without One!

For many shelters, spay/neuter surgeries are not built into their budgets. This means that they depend on individual donations and the support of Pet Friendly Services of Indiana. When you purchase a Pet Friendly license plate, you are supporting the work of 300 shelters and rescues across the state and giving an animal the best chance at a new beginning.

Already have a Pet Friendly plate, but you’d like to do more to help Indiana’s animals? Become a sustaining donor. Just $5 per month pays for a full surgery over the course of a year. We’re all in this together, and your financial gift really does help us help them.
