10 Ways to Protect Pets from Summer Temperatures

If you find it hot outside, so does your pet! It’s important to remember that cats and dogs are susceptible to heath issues from warm temperatures just like we are. Here are some helpful tips to keep your pet happy and healthy when the temperature starts to rise:

  1. Provide ample shade: Ensure that your pets have access to shaded areas throughout the day, especially during the hottest hours. This can be achieved by setting up umbrellas or canopies.
  2. Limit outdoor activities: Avoid taking your pets for walks or engaging in strenuous activities during peak heat hours. Opt for early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are cooler.
  3. Hydration is key: Always keep fresh, cool water available for your pets.
  4. Avoid hot surfaces: Pavements, asphalt, and sand can become scorching hot and can burn your pet’s paw pads. Opt for grassy areas or walk your pets on the shaded side of the street to prevent burns or discomfort.

Catching up with The FIX is IN!

So far this year The FIX is IN! has already hosted 71 clinics and fixed 6,346 cats!

Pet Friendly Services provides financial assistance at each clinic to ensure low-cost spay/neuter is accessible to those who need it most.

Public Vet is currently scheduling clinics across Indiana! Pet owners should book appointments right away, as spots are limited. Surgeries are by appointment only. Sign up at www.pub.vet.

Don't Drive Without One!

For many shelters, spay/neuter surgeries are not built into their budgets. This means that they depend on individual donations and the support of Pet Friendly Services of Indiana. When you purchase a Pet Friendly license plate, you are supporting the work of 300 shelters and rescues across the state and giving an animal the best chance at a new beginning.

Already have a Pet Friendly plate, but you’d like to do more to help Indiana’s animals? Become a sustaining donor. Just $5 per month pays for a full surgery over the course of a year. We’re all in this together, and your financial gift really does help us help them.

Have a plate AND donate already? Help us spread the word! The more people who know about the lifesaving work supported by the Pet Friendly Plate, the more lives we can save!
