Q1 Impact Report: A strong start to 2026 & a new tool to find spay/neuter services

As Indiana’s only statewide animal welfare organization, Pet Friendly Services continues to make meaningful progress toward ending pet overpopulation. 2026 is already off to a strong start!

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we’ve fixed 2,413 cats and dogs so far this year at an average cost of just $74 per pet. This represents an extraordinary return on investment compared to the hundreds of dollars it can cost to shelter and rehome a single animal.

We have continued our lifesaving partnership with Public Vet through The FIX is IN! clinics, expanding access to affordable spay and neuter services for pet owners across the state. We also recently launched a new statewide Spay/Neuter Resource Directory, connecting Indiana residents to low-cost clinics, transport programs, and financial assistance options all in one place.

Every surgery makes a difference. Fewer unwanted litters mean less strain on shelters and healthier communities for animals and people alike. With your support, we are not just saving lives. We are preventing suffering before it begins.

A New Tool to Connect Pet Owners to Spay/Neuter Services

We recently launched something we’ve needed for a long time: a single place where anyone in Indiana can go to find affordable spay and neuter services near them.

Our new statewide Spay/Neuter Resource Directory brings together low-cost clinics, transport programs, financial assistance, and mobile services, all searchable by county. It was built for the people we hear from every day: the ones who want to do the right thing for their pets but don’t know where to start.

By connecting people to existing resources, we can prevent litters before they happen and reduce the number of animals entering shelters in the first place.

If you or someone you know needs help, we hope this tool makes it easier to take that first step.

Where We Saved Lives in Q3

The Pet Friendly Plate Grant allows shelters and rescues to fix their animals at a reduced cost to make them ready for adoption.

The Community Cat Grant provides rescue groups and shelters with FREE surgery certificates for Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return programs for outdoor cats. These certificates include a rabies vaccination and mandatory eartip.

Catching up with The FIX is IN!

“The Fix is IN!” is on the road again in 2026, already fixing 2,259 cats! That’s over 2,000 cats who will not contribute to the growing number of unwanted litters in overcrowded shelters.

Pet Friendly Services continues to provide financial assistance to families and community cat caretakers who might otherwise struggle to afford these surgeries, stopping pet overpopulation at its source and creating healthier, more stable communities for people and pets alike.

To see where The Fix is IN! will be next and to make an appointment, visit Public Vet’s website. More clinics will be listed soon!
