May Newsletter: Month of May? Month of Spay!

Welcome to the Month of May!

The month of May is a wonderful time to be in Indiana! Winter is a fading memory, and summer is right around the corner. The weather is warming, the flowers are blooming, and we’re looking forward to a long weekend of celebration at the end of the month.

Unfortunately, all these flowers and warm temperatures must have pets feeling amorous. They reproduce at alarming rates – and we need to move fast to prevent unwanted litters.

The best ways to protect adoptable cats and dogs from needless euthanasia are:

  1. Spay/Neuter
  2. Adopting new pets from rescues and shelters
  3. Spay/Neuter
  4. Expanding access to veterinary care
  5. Did we mention spay/neuter?!

Your financial support and purchase of the Pet Friendly license plate save thousands of lives each year!

Loki Needs A New Family

Loki was found wandering the busy streets of Speedway. Given his breed (Bernie-Doodle) and friendly temperament, rescuers at Speedway Animal Rescue rightly assumed he was just lost. Loki’s owners were located – but they didn’t want him anymore. He was surrendered to the rescue

Loki deserves more than this rough start. He is neutered, vaccinated, HW negative, and microchipped. He is good with dogs, cats, kids, and even ferrets. After his neuter surgery (on May 2), he’ll be searching for a new family – one that won’t let him down.

A common misconception is that if you decide to rescue an animal, your options are limited on breed, age, or temperament, but that’s simply not true! You can find dogs of all shapes and sizes in rescues and shelters – along with adorable cats and kittens. For more information on adopting from one of Indiana’s shelters and rescues, visit www.AdoptINpets.org!

If you’re interested in adopting Loki, contact Speedway Animal Rescue.

Making it Easier to Fix By Five!

Many areas across Indiana have limited or no access to veterinary care, let alone spay/neuter. To make matters even worse, Indiana is facing a veterinary shortage. Many clinics are booking weeks – or even months – in advance.

How do you fix your cat by five months of age if you can’t even get an appointment? That’s where “The FIX is IN” comes in! This unique partnership with Public Vet is making an incredible impact around our state. By reaching these areas in their time of need, we’re bringing essential care and holding off the pet population at the same time.

Pet Friendly Services is able to provide financial assistance at “The FIX is IN!” clinics because of people like you who drive with the Pet Friendly Plate and donate! Thank you for helping us help them!

Here’s where THE FIX is IN! will be next:
