Show Your “Pet Luv”

SNSI’s latest Pet Friendly license plate prefix will fill your vehicle with Pet Luv! Our newest prefix, “PL”, is now available at a license branch near you. With every Pet Friendly plate, SNSI receives $25 for life-saving spay-neuter surgeries. When you renew, ask for the Pet Friendly plate to support spay-neuter programs, and show your pet love!

SNSI Welcomes Marketing/ Philanthropy Director

Photo: Missy and Iggy

Missy

Missy Patton joined SNSI in April as the Director of Marketing and Philanthropy. The generous support of the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust, has allowed SNSI to add this position. Missy is already working to increase awareness of the Pet Friendly license plate and the life-saving results that are afforded by spay/neuter programs.

Missy has been involved in animal welfare for over 10 years. She continues to be involved in animal rescue and has adopted five rescue dogs of her own: Chesney, Faith, Romeo, Pacer and a three-toothed Shih Tzu named Iggy. Missy holds a BS degree from Eastern Illinois University. She moved to Indianapolis in 2009 and began working for the Army National Guard as a civilian employee. Missy is now thrilled to be the new Director of Marketing and Philanthropy for Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana.

Indy Closer to Zero Kill

No Cats AvailableOne Sunday in April, Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) posted something miraculous on their Facebook page: “NO CATS AVAILABLE”. Yes, Indiana’s largest open-admissions shelter had successfully adopted all of their kittens and cats.

While this is an exciting indicator of success, “kitten season” is upon us. It’s the time of year when shelters overflow with kittens, and animal-welfare advocates must be especially diligent in working to place hundreds upon hundreds of kittens.

“Over the past few months, we’ve seen an increase in the number of cats being adopted from IACS,” said IACS’ director, Katie Trennepohl.  “This wouldn’t be possible without the hard work by all of our staff and volunteers, a great partnership with several area PetSmart locations, and the support of the public when it comes to our adoption promotions.”

SNSI applauds this hard work and knows that, through the dedicated work of shelters like IACS, one day, Indiana will reach zero kill.

New Logo for SNSI

SNSI is pleased to unveil our new logo. It might seem familiar to you, as this is the same artwork and brand that we’ve used on our Pet Friendly License Plate since 2011. People love the license plate, and we wanted to better connect the license plate and our spay-neuter mission.

Hide the Chips!

Innocently enough, we might leave a chip bag out on a countertop or table. But when our dogs find a bag of chips, they also find  hidden danger. These chip-type bags can be life-threatening for animals as they dig to the bottom nose-first, potentially cutting off their air supply. Animals in the wild can find danger in bag litter as well. Let’s keep those chip-type bags out of reach of our pets and pick up that litter to help our free-roaming and wild friends, too.
