March On & Save Animals!
Have you heard that March is “In like a lion, out like a lamb”? For animal welfare, March is “In with the frisky cats, out with MORE KITTENS.”
Spring brings warmer temperatures, perfect for mating – and leading to “kitten season.” As shelters and rescues brace for an influx of litters, the need for spay/neuter has never been more urgent. By preventing just one litter, you can help reduce overcrowding and give more animals a chance at a loving home. Cats (kittens, really) can get pregnant at just four months of age. “Fix by Five” months of age to save lives!
Our average surgery cost is just $68. Your donation can fix just one cat or dog will save hundreds of animals from future suffering!
Animal Hero Highlight: Ellen Robinson

At Pet Friendly Services, we have the privilege of witnessing the work of true animal heroes. These individuals make a lifesaving difference at the local level (and beyond!) as advocates, volunteers, and champions for animals in need. Their dedication creates lasting change, ensuring that pets receive the care they deserve. One of these heroes is Ellen Robinson.
Ellen’s journey began when she attended an event raising funds to start a spay/neuter clinic. Inspired by the mission, she signed up for the newsletter—and the rest is history. She went on to play a pivotal role in launching and leading the FACE Clinic, Indiana’s first high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter clinic. In the years since, this model has inspired more low-cost clinics throughout Indiana, dramatically increasing capacity across the state.
Starting the first high-volume clinic was the hardest and most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. The importance of providing services for citizens at all socioeconomic levels is critical to taking care of companion animals. Families want to provide appropriate care for their dogs and cats, and must have the opportunity to do so. – Ellen Robinson
High-Quality, High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) clinics play a vital role in making spay/neuter services accessible and affordable across Indiana. These clinics serve every pet owner regardless of financial situation or location!

Record Attendance = Record Opportunities!
The Indiana Animal Welfare Conference is set for a record-breaking year! With our largest number of attendees yet already registered for this jam-packed day of learning, training, and networking, we’re gearing up for our best conference yet!
New format for 2025: We’ve expanded the conference to include 18 concurrent sessions structured to address the unique challenges and opportunities of animal welfare.
Pet Friendly Services provides a continental breakfast, Italian buffet lunch, and afternoon snack. We keep the cost low because we want even the smallest shelters and rescues to attend. This year, we are offering scholarships to further reduce the cost for shelters in need.

Avian Flu & Cats: What you Need to Know
Avian influenza primarily affects poultry and wild birds, but has also spread to dairy cows. The virus can have deadly consequences to cats, and dog owners should also take precautions.
The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has a comprehensive guidance document for cat owners and caretakers.
If you have a backyard flock or captive pet birds with access to the outdoors, the AVMA provides guidance on best practices to keep your animals safe. This article also includes information regarding preventing dogs from becoming sick.
Visit the Indiana State Board of Animal Health’s website to stay informed: learn which counties are affected and report sick or dead birds.
