Rescues & Shelters! Sharing the Pet Friendly Plate is a requirement for the Pet Friendly Plate Grant & Community Cat Grant!
Why Sharing the Pet Friendly Plate Matters
The Pet Friendly Plate is a shared, statewide resource that helps fund spay/neuter services across Indiana. Shelters, rescues, and community cat programs all benefit when more drivers choose the plate, because 100% of the revenue received by Pet Friendly Services goes back into programs that support Indiana animals. For this reason, organizations receiving the Community Cat Grant or Pet Friendly Plate Grant are required to help promote the plate by sharing it on their website and Facebook page.
Website Requirement
Add information about the Pet Friendly Plate to an easily findable page on your website. This can be a dedicated page, a “Ways to Help” page, a resources page, or another prominent location.
Your website listing MUST include a Pet Friendly Plate image and link to PetFriendlyPlate.org. It’s also helpful to include:
- A short explanation that the plate funds spay/neuter programs in Indiana
- A note encouraging supporters to choose the Pet Friendly Plate when renewing or registering their vehicle
As part of your grant application, you will need to submit the direct URL where this information can be easily found.
Facebook Requirement
Create a Facebook post promoting the Pet Friendly Plate, then pin it to the top of your organization’s Facebook page so visitors can easily see it.
How to Pin a Facebook Post
On desktop:
- Log in to Facebook and go to the page you manage.
- Find or create the Pet Friendly Plate post.
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the post.
- Select Pin to Top of Page.
- Refresh your page and confirm the post appears at the top with a “Pinned Post” label.
On mobile:
- Open the Facebook app and go to the page you manage.
- Find or create the Pet Friendly Plate post.
- Tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the post.
- Select Pin to Top of Page.
- Return to your page timeline and confirm the post is pinned.
