Dear Pet Friendly Supporter:
Recent headlines have highlighted a troubling reality: Indianapolis Animal Care Services’ new facility is already operating over capacity. While IACS may be in the headlines, the challenge isn’t limited to one shelter or one city. Animal shelters and rescue organizations across Indiana continue to face overwhelming demand as more animals enter the system than shelters can support
The truth is that once a pet enters a crowded shelter system, we’ve already missed an opportunity to prevent that crisis. That’s why our work focuses on addressing the root causes of pet overpopulation. In this month’s newsletter, we’re sharing tools designed to do exactly that.
Together, we can move beyond managing the symptoms of pet overpopulation and invest in solutions that prevent it from happening in the first place.
Share this Tool to Save Lives!
We recently launched Indiana’s new Spay/Neuter Directory to connect pet owners with affordable spay/neuter options, including low-cost clinics, financial assistance programs, transport services, and more.
The response has been tremendous. Thousands of pet owners have already used the directory to find help for their pets, proving that the desire to do the right thing is there. Often, people simply need to know where to turn.
By helping pet owners access services before a litter is born, we can reduce the number of animals entering shelters in the first place. Please share this resource with your friends, family, and community.
Connecting Adoptable Pets with Furever Families
Pet Friendly Services helps connect potential adopters with adoptable animals through two free resources: the Adoption Guide and Adoption Calendar.
The Adoption Guide provides practical information about the adoption process, while the Adoption Calendar helps families find upcoming adoption events hosted by shelters and rescue groups across Indiana. Together, these tools make it easier for people to meet adoptable pets and find the right companion.
Fixing Pets in Need: Harlee
This program helped me so much! If it wasn’t for the program she could have suffered so much more! So I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
– Pet owner receiving financial assistance
The Pet Friendly Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) helps limited-income pet owners access affordable spay/neuter services for their cats and dogs. By removing financial barriers to care, SNAP helps families keep their pets healthy, prevent unwanted litters, and avoid the difficult decisions that can lead to pets being surrendered to shelters. Keeping pets in loving homes is one of the most effective ways to reduce shelter intake and strengthen animal welfare across Indiana.
When you support Pet Friendly Services, you help make spay/neuter affordable and accessible. Thank you!
Two Ways to Celebrate "Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat" Month!
June is Adopt-a-Shelter Cat Month, and it’s the perfect time to support cats in your community.
1. Visit a cat café! These unique businesses partner with shelters and rescue groups to help adoptable cats find homes while giving visitors a chance to spend time with feline friends. Pet Friendly Services makes it easy to find a café near you with our Indiana Cat Café Trail.
2. You can also help by sharing an important message: Feline Fix by Five. Many people don’t realize that kittens can have kittens. By encouraging friends, family, and fellow cat lovers to spay or neuter their cats before five months, you can help prevent unwanted litters. Learn more and find sharable resources here.

Drive Change This Summer with a Pet Friendly Plate!
Wherever summer takes you, the Pet Friendly Plate helps Indiana animals every mile of the way. Each Pet Friendly Plate provides $25 directly to Pet Friendly Services, and every penny goes to funding spay/neuter surgeries that prevent unwanted litters and reduce shelter overcrowding across the state.
It’s Indiana’s only statewide, shared investment in the future of animal welfare. The revenue supports spay/neuter services for hundreds of Indiana shelters, rescues and community cat programs – in addition to limited-income pet owners.
Don’t have a Pet Friendly Plate yet? You can get one online or at any Indiana BMV branch. Better yet, you don’t have to wait until your renewal date. The BMV will prorate the fee, making it easy to switch at any time.
Already have a Pet Friendly Plate? Tell a friend! Every plate sold saves more lives.
