July 2021 Newsletter: Rescued! Precious Lives Saved Just In Time!

July Updates: You Saved Lives!

Last month, we asked for your help with two critical hoarding crises: the Muncie cats and Tennessee dogs. Thanks to your support we were able to respond to these requests, along with several others, and prepare hundreds of beautiful animals for their forever homes! Thank you for making a difference!

42 cats were fixed from a hoarding situation in Muncie and are finding their forever homes from Muncie Animal Care Services.

One of the 32 dogs brought to Indiana from a hoarding crisis in Tennessee (pictured here with his foster brother), now thriving thanks to Pals For Paws rescue.

Your generous donations ensure we can say “Yes” when rescues ask for help. Thank you for helping us help them!

Rescued Just in Time: Lana’s Puppies

How could anyone look at these faces and decide the only way to deal with an unwanted litter was to drown them in a river? That was that fate of Lana’s six beautiful puppies before a hero stepped in.

Lana and her puppies are in the care of Red Sky Rescue until they’re ready to find the loving homes they deserve. Pet Friendly Services will provide spay/neuter surgeries, and the puppies will soon be adoption ready. Lana will be spayed to ensure this litter is her last.

Partner Vet Goes Above and Beyond to Help Community Strays

When a neighbor passed away, he left behind 10-15 cats. He had fed these cats daily and they roamed freely around his house and the neighborhood. Upon his passing, a woman felt bad for the now-starving cats and began feeding them but did not have the resources to get them fixed. The population increased to 25, and the caretaker was overwhelmed. She had reached out for help locally, but Carroll County is rural and has no local spay/neuter programs or shelter to help adopt animals or control the pet population in any way.

So the local vet jumped in to help! Dr. Sterrett responded by contacting Pet Friendly Services to request Community Cat certificates, helping trap and transport the cats – and fixing the cats (of course!) Dr. Sterrett is one of Pet Friendly Services’ partner vets, graciously discounting spay/neuter surgeries to address the root cause of overpopulation. Her dedication and participation in our programs saves countless lives every year!

Pet Friendly Businesses Abound!

If you’re looking for a restaurant, brewery, gift shop or even a car dealership, you can find one where your pets are welcome. Know of one that we missed? Let us know and we’ll invite them to be recognized!

Don’t forget to dress the part! The perfect shirts for frequenting a Pet Friendly Business are available in our online store. Get your “If I can’t bring my dog I’m not going” or “I’d rather be home with my cat” shirts at ShopPetFriendlyServices.org.

The FIX is IN!

Thanks to your support, the FIX is IN! has now assisted over 2,000 cats, with 420 last weekend alone! By reaching areas in high need of low-cost spay/neuter, this partnership with Public Vet is making a huge impact on the cat population throughout the state.

Public Vet will be on “paws” in July, but will resume with clinics in August.
