About

Legal Name: Spay-Neuter Services, Inc.
EIN: 31-0922223

Pet Friendly Services of Indiana was formerly known as Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana (SNSI), which began serving limited-income pet lovers in central Indiana in 1977. The organization expanded over time and now supports the work of pet owners, rescue groups, and shelters across the state.

Pet Friendly Services provides free and discounted surgeries thanks to revenues received from the Pet Friendly license plate, grants, donations, fundraisers, and bequests. We partner with a network of compassionate and caring veterinarians who perform surgeries at reduced rates to address the root cause of overpopulation.

What We Do

Pet Friendly Services runs targeted programs proven to reduce shelter intake and unnecessary euthanasia. With fewer animals, shelters can care for the animals already in their care, increase adoption rates, and increase morale among staff members.

We also host the annual Indiana Animal Welfare Conference, bringing our state’s shelters and rescue groups together for a day of learning and networking so we can continue to increase the number of lives we save.

Pet Friendly Plate Grant (PFPG)

Provides rescue groups and shelters with spay/neuter surgery coupons, used to for discounts at participating veterinarians, to alter pets before adopting them into their forever homes.

Community Cat Grant (CCG)

Provides FREE certificates for community cats (feral and free-roaming cats), reducing the number of unwanted litters and preventing cats from entering shelters.

Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)

Provides limited-income pet owners with $50 surgeries at participating veterinary clinics.

Public Vet – The FIX is IN!

Public Vet is a traveling veterinary clinic that provides services to communities in need of low-cost spay/neuter. This is for cats only. Pet Friendly Services provides financial assistance at each Fix is IN! clinic, which allows discounts on a case-by-case basis. You can apply for a discount when you register directly with Public Vet.

Pet Friendly Services is Indiana’s only statewide animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the euthanasia of dogs and cats. Through our innovative spay/neuter programs that fix 14,000+ cats and dogs per year, we tackle pet overpopulation at the source—saving lives and reducing suffering.

Audits

Joyce Crowell & Winnie FlowersIn response to a 1977 request for help, submitted to the Indianapolis Star & News, two women responded to the call. The plea was for financial help to spay a pet dog. Only fixed animals were allowed in the apartment complex, and a lady and her dog were facing eviction.

Winnie Flowers and Joyce Crowell contacted the newspaper, offering to help and collect funds to cover the surgery. When the newspaper posted a follow up, 43 other people contacted them in need of assistance.

This is when two otherwise ordinary women became extraordinary, gathering their friends and starting a nonprofit to help animals. That organization was Spay-Neuter Services, later renamed Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana.

The organization grew over the years and made a major leap in 2011, after acquiring the Pet Friendly license plate. With a sustained level of funding and backing from pet lovers across Indiana, Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana began funding thousands of surgeries each year.
